TW Ranch

Tumbleweed Ranch is a 2-week, Monday through Friday horseback riding intensive program for campers at the intermediate to advanced level.  Occurring during the camp day, this program combines an equestrian focused curriculum such as increasing horsemanship and stable management skills with traditional camp activities like swimming and hiking.

Typical Day:

There will be at least one hour of riding per day.  Group lessons will be divided by skill lever and each lesson will build on the skills acquired in previous lessons.  Attendance during the 2-week session is therefore critical to your child’s progress in horsemanship.

After riding, the ranch hands will spend a time untacking and grooming their horses.  Specific lessons devoted to bathing, first aid, and stretching will be incorporated.  Horse chores will also be completed during this time. After a few chores, it’s time for lunch-for everyone!  Riders will feed their horses and learn about horse nutrition and supplements.

After lunch, a short lesson will be given by one of the head wranglers.  These lessons include: parts of the horse, parts of the tack, breeds, marking, and colors of the horse.

After the lesson of the day, campers will enjoy selected camp activities including nature, arts and crafts, archery, gaga, field games, and the inflatable obstacle course. Finally, campers will get to cool down in the swimming pool during a period of free swim.
